About This Visa

This is a permanent Australian visa available to holders of the Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) Subclass 188 visa  who will apply under the same stream through which they were granted the subclass 188 visa

  • Business Innovation Stream –  you have established your business in Australia which satisfies DIBP requirements relating to turnover, assets and employment.
  • Investor Stream – your investment in Australian bonds has been held for 4 years.

How Do I Apply For This Visa?

Common Criteria

To apply for this visa you must:

  • Apply online via the SkillSelect system.
  • Be in or outside of Australia at the time of application.
  • Be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government.
  • Have a genuine commitment to maintaining your Australian business or investment operations
  • Have complied with Australian laws.
  • Hold a subclass 188 visa and have held the 188 visa as the primary applicant unless your relationship with your spouse who held the 188 visa has ended due to death or relationship break down.

Investor Stream Specific Criteria

You must satisfy the following:

  • Have held your AUD 1.5 million dollar investment in Australian state or territory bonds for  4 years (continuous)
  • Have been physically in Australia for at least 2 of the 4 years to the date of visa application.

Business Stream Specific Criteria

You must satisfy the following:

  • Hold a qualifying ownership interest in the Australian business for the last 2 years
  • Have been physically in Australia for at least 1 of the 2 years to the date of visa application
  • Had business turnover of at least AUD $300,000 in the 12 months to application date unless you meet the Regional Australian exception criteria
  • And in the 12 months preceding the date of visa application, satisfy 2 of the following criteria –
    • Employ 2 full-time Australian workers in your who are not related to you
    • Net Australian business assets of AUD 200,000
    • Net Personal assets of AUD 600,000
